Hudson Mukasa is a Major General in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), who has been serving as the Military Attaché to Uganda’s Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, since June 2016. Prior to that, he served as the Military Attaché to Uganda’s Embassy in Bujumbura, Burundi.

Born in the Buganda Region of Uganda during the 1960s, Hudson Mukasa completed his military cadet course at the Tanzania Military Academy in Monduli in the late 1980s. He then went on to attend a Senior Staff and Command course in Ghana in the early 1990s. In addition to this, he has also graduated from the National Strategic Studies Course at the National Defence College in Kenya.

Military

Mukasa joined the National Resistance Army, the forerunner to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, in 1983, and has held various command positions since then. He served as the Commander of the 2nd UPDF Division in Mbarara, Western Uganda, from 2005 to 2008, and then as the Commander of the 5th UPDF Division in Lira, Northern Uganda, in 2008.

Additionally, he worked as the Second Division operations and training officer and as the commander of the 503 Brigade, based in Kitgum, Northern Uganda, from 1997 to 2003. The brigade was one of the UPDF’s mobile forces established to combat the Lord’s Resistance Army in the Sudan-Uganda border region.
